Knowledge and surgical skills in the field of pediatric surgery are constantly changing. Advances in fetal surgery, neonatal surgery, minimally invasive surgery, and organ transplantation have significantly altered the management and outcome of surgical conditions in children. With new experiences and researches, our practice becomes modern, effective and efficient. The main aim of this textbook is to update the postgraduate students in Pediatric Surgery, General Surgery, Pediatrics, Urology, and Plastic Surgery. It also gives appropriate guidance to general practitioners and family physicians regarding early diagnosis and care of surgical problems in children.
This book contains current protocols of investigations and treatments as well as materials for exam-based preparation. In surgical specialties, particularly in pediatric surgery, one needs to focus on the accuracy of diagnosis, appropriateness of investigations and operative procedures and follow-ups of long-term results. Each contributor of this textbook is an acclaimed expert in their respective subject that they have elaborated, and they have distilled their comprehensive knowledge into easily readable chapters. The authors have suggested some key references at the end of each chapter for further elucidation.
